What Your Slipper Color Says About You

Owning a pair of Nuknuuk sheepskin slippers is a statement on its own. It says something about you. It tells people that you are both practical and trendy. Let’s take it one step further, though. Let’s discover what the color of your slipper says about your personality.

Let’s dive into some slipper psychology.

Blue: You are as calm, cool and collected as they come. You have too much depth to you to bother sweating the small stuff. Drama just doesn’t appeal to you – never has. You’ve always been the friend with whom everyone gets along. Blue is not only the color of your’s also the color of the ocean. It symbolizes peace and tranquility, which are two words often used to describe your aura.

Black: You are fearless. Equal parts daring and determined, you inspire those around you to reach for what they want. You’re too strong to spend more than a minute feeling sorry for yourself. You can come off as intimidating, but those close to you recognize your soft heart. Like your slippers, you have a classic timelessness to you that will never go out of style.

Harvest (tan): A reliable and trustworthy friend, you’re often the pillar that holds just about everything up.  You have a good head on your shoulders and you see no need for extravagance. You’ve always found beauty in shown in your classic harvest Nuknuuks! Perhaps that trait is what drove you to Nuknuuk in the first place. Anytime quality meets value, you’re there!

Brown: loyal and modest are two words commonly used to describe you. People are often quick to open up to you, perhaps because you emit a very relaxed energy. Content with simplicity, you are more than comfortable in your skin. You usually like things as they are and can do without the complications that come with change. You crave stability and comfort, so it makes sense that you were drawn to your Nuknuuks!

Aubergine: You are a remarkable judge of character. Your friends have always described you as the compassionate, observant one. Born a free spirit, there is a very artsy side to you. Often searching for deeper meanings, you are interested in spirituality and are tempted by the idea of dropping everything to travel. Your spunk and uniqueness make you irresistibly magnetic - all kinds of people are drawn to you.

As you can likely imagine...these are total generalizations!

While all of the above is based on the psychology of color, there is currently no scientific evidence proving your slippers to be any type of real window into your soul.

The only thing we know for sure is this: if you own’ve got some good taste!

Nuknuuk owners: do you guys agree or disagree with how we described you? Let us know in the comments!

5 of the coldest possible places on Earth to live

According to the calendar, we’re weeks away from spring...but we’re nowhere near ready to kick off our sheepskin slippers. It’s cold. Roads are slushy. Sidewalks are icy. We’re still staying indoors for the foreseeable future and keeping our toes as toasty as possible.
Things could be worse though. You could live in Verkhoyansk, Russia.

5 coldest places to live picture 1

Here are 5 of the coldest possible places on Earth to live:

Verkhoyansk, Russia

Arguably the most miserable place on the planet, this Russian gem averages temperatures of -45C in January. Its record low is -67.8C. Yes, -67.8C is a thing. For almost two weeks in late December, this place does not see a glimpse of sunlight. Can you take a second to actually picture that? -45C of darkness. Guys, the Russians need Nuknuuks. The Russians need Nuknuuks ASAP.

Fort Good Hope, Northwest Territories, Canada

Fort Good Hope is a tiny charter community in the Northwest Territories. When we say tiny, we mean population of about 500 tiny. It’s almost entirely Aboriginal population relies heavily on hunting and trapping as its main source of income. Fort Good Hope’s winter temperatures average around -30C. Slightly warmer than Russia though, eh? Slightly. Ohhhh, Canada.

International Falls, Minnesota U.S

Nicknamed the “icebox of the nation”, this Minnesota city averages a cool -17C in the winter. Perhaps after learning about Verkhoyansk, you may have just caught yourself whispering “oh suck it up, Minnesota” followed by a roll of the eyes. We’ll remind you that -17 is still nothing to mess with. To put things into perspective, your freezer is probably set somewhere around -18C. Nope. Get these guys some slippers.

Barrow, Alaska U.S

Similar in temperature to the previously mentioned “icebox of the nation,” Alaska’s coldest city has no wind barriers. Zero. Wind. Barriers. It’s surrounded by the Arctic Ocean, which makes it a special, unique kind of nightmare. The northernmost town of the U.S., sees no sunlight for 65 days of the year. Brrrrr-row, Alaska.

Eureka, Nunavut, Canada

This Canadian city sees no sunlight at all between mid-October and late February. It’s annual mean temperature is -19C. ANNUAL! Winter months average around -40C, making venturing outdoors without proper gear dangerous. The people of Nunavut, though, have somehow manage to adapt, survive and even thrive in these arctic conditions. We applaud you, Eurekans!

Let’s just all take a moment and be collectively thankful that we don’t live in Verkhoyansk, okay?

We’re almost there, people. Spring really is coming. The good news is that Nuknuuk sheepskin slippers are designed to keep your toes warm in the winter...and cool in the summer. Four seasons, one slipper. We got you.

Before applying any cleaning measure, it’s best to test a small area of your slipper first.

Step 1: You’ll need some gentle, enzyme-free soap or a specialized sheepskin shampoo (wool shampoos will also work) that you’ll mix with water.  For proportions, please read the label of the shampoo bottle.

Step 2: Rub  the stain with the soap,  carefully using a soft brush or dry cloth.  Carefully rub the area until the stain is gone.

Attention to Detail: It’s in the Sole

Our mission has always been to create slippers and gloves using the highest quality materials to give maximum comfort and value. Although this may sound like a lofty goal, it is one that we try to incorporate into every element of the products we manufacture. One good example of this is how we construct the in-soles of our sheepskin slippers.

First, let’s talk about what exactly an in-sole is. The in-sole is the portion of the slipper upon which your foot rests. It is the lining that covers the outsole. It is the part of the slipper that is in contact with the base of your foot when you wear your slippers. So you may be asking yourself, “What’s the big deal about the in-sole? Aren’t they all the same?” The quick answer is no, but let’s look at why.

5 Things We Love Most about Fall

The end of the summer and the beginning of Fall can be a nostalgic time for everyone. For children and teen-agers, it is a time when the freedom of summer is coming to an end and the routine dictated by school and other activities must begin again. For parents and other adults, it's time to prepare for colder weather and shorter days which can sometimes be hard. It can be difficult  to imagine that the warm, lazy days of summer won't be back for another 6 or 7 months.

We like to think of Fall as a beautiful season that offers great opportunities to do things that weren't possible during the summer.
